Mom's Brownie Pudding

Mom's Brownie Pudding reminds me of Sundays. We would have an amazing home cooked meal after church and follow it up with this delicious dessert. It is like lava cake but better in my opinion. It would also add that it is a dessert that is best eaten right out of the oven. Vanilla ice cream  (or Cool Whip or real whipped cream) is a MUST. At the very least have a glass of milk handy :) Enjoy!

Sift Together:
3/4c. Sugar
1c. Flour
2 TBSP Cocoa
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix dry ingredients with:
1/2c. milk
2/3c. salad oil or melted shortening
1tsp. vanilla
(this turns it into a batter) then pour it into a greased 8x8 pan

In a separate bowl mix together until smooth:
3/4c. brown sugar
1/4c. cocoa
3/4c. chopped walnuts
Sprinkle this dry mixture over the batter

Pour 1 3/4c. boiling water over entire batter/dry mix
Bake at 350 for 45 minutes

do you know the story behind this recipe? it was how they could eat "chocolate" since they didn't have the money to buy the "real" stuff
